School Uniform
School Uniform
At Whitecote Primary School we aim to foster a feeling of community within our school. We expect all children to wear correct school uniform. We believe that it is smart, it gives the school an identity and it gives the child a sense of belonging. School uniform promotes a sense of pride in the school and is both practical and good value for money. It helps the children feel equal, is not distracting during lessons and enables parents to insist that certain clothes are worn. We believe that pupils should dress appropriately for the activities they are undertaking, which includes having correct kits for P.E.
- Dark green cardigan/jumper with or without logo
- White/dark green polo shirt or white shirt
- Gold cardigan/jumper with or without logo (Year 6 only)
- Grey or black trousers (smart school trousers; not jeans, leggings or tracksuit bottoms), skirt or pinafore dress
- Grey, black or white socks
- Plain grey, black or white tights
- Plain grey or black leggings instead of tights, not instead of trousers
- Black shoes or trainers.
In summer, children may wear smart school shorts in black or grey, a green and white striped or checked dresses or playsuits.
In winter, children may wear appropriate footwear such as wellies or snow-boots, but these must be changed for indoor use.
Year 6
We like to recognise the important role that our Year 6 pupils play in school, and consequently they wear a different coloured sweatshirt so that they stand out. We have chosen gold, as this is the colour associated with aiming high, aspirations and success. School will provide one sweatshirt for each pupil, but should you require additional sweatshirts they will be available from Whittaker's Schoolwear Shop in Farsley.
Below is a picture of what the gold sweatshirt looks like:

Please ensure that all items of clothing, including coats, are named with your child’s first name and surname. This can be done with permanent pen, sew-on or iron-labels or washable sticky labels, such as those on https://www.mynametags.com. (Other companies also offer similar products, but we know these last the weekly wash for the full year!)
Please ensure your child brings a coat.
The wearing of jewellery is not allowed for Health and Safety reasons and because they can be easily lost. Stud earrings or small sleepers are the only earrings which can be used for pierced ears. Earrings must be removed for PE and swimming. The Governing Body accepts no responsibility for any injury, which may result from the wearing of earrings or for any items of jewellery which may be lost or damaged in school.
